Business development/transaction origination: Generating new deal flow.
Transaction analysis: Managing the credit review process, including financial modeling, creating, and presenting written and oral analyses and driving internal approvals.
Investment recommendation: Determining the appropriate credit quality, pricing decisions, leverage, and investment amount for a particular transaction. Making sound and reasoned investment recommendations.
Deal execution: Developing and negotiating the terms and structure of debt and preferred equity investments and assisting with the documentation process.
Portfolio management: Understanding the investments under management through active monitoring of key performance drivers and industry/sector trends.
Manage junior team members to originate, size, and underwrite structured finance products including bridge loans, mezzanine loans, preferred equity investments, distressed, non-performing, REO loans, and B pieces
Generate and negotiate term sheets and financing structures with borrowers, sponsors, and partners
Must be able to negotiate structured financing arrangements with lenders across all asset classes, and product types (i.e., senior mortgage, subordinate debt, preferred equity, etc.).
Oversee the preparation of pitch materials and offering memorandums for commercial real estate transactions, including research financial modeling and transaction narratives.
Responsible for complex financial modeling of commercial real estate transactions and utilize market and Basis Investment Group appraisal, valuation, and leasing data/comps to quickly and accurately underwrite a variety of different transactions.
Must understand and review real estate documents (quote sheet, term sheets, leases, loan documents, appraisals, etc.) to quickly identify relevant material.
Network within the industry through meetings, events, and involvement in real estate trade associations.
Oversee and participate in weekly pipeline meetings to discuss deal flow, deal status, market conditions and review new deals..
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
MBA designation a plus, but not required.
10+ years of experience in financial analysis environment; private equity real estate investment banking, or commercial real estate lending.
Strong credit, financial analysis, quantitative, and modeling skills
Self-motivated, team oriented, and strong management skills to prioritize tight deadlines.
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and quantitative and communication skills with an ability to generate new transaction opportunities and make reasoned investment recommendations.
Ability to be proactive, anticipate demands and accomplish tasks with minimal direction and oversight, often under pressure to meet demanding deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong leadership abilities with a desire to develop team members.
Strong rolodex of relationship with borrowers, sponsors, and brokers.
