Join the City of Renton's Development Engineering Team, a division of the City's Community and Economic Development Department. We are recruiting for a Civil Engineer/Project Manager and this position will, as part of the Development Engineering Team, help to ensure that private development and Capital Improvement Projects are designed, engineered, and constructed in accordance with the City's Codes and Standards, and provide a safe and enjoyable place to live and work.
This position is part of a series and placement depends on the education, experience, and skill set of the incumbent.
Duties may include:
Civil Engineer 1: Perform project plan reviews and construction management on small-scale private development and CIP Projects.
Civil Engineer 2: Perform project plan reviews and construction management on small and/or midsize scale private development and CIP Projects.
Civil Engineer 3: Perform project plan reviews and construction management on complex and/or large-scale private development and CIP projects.
Integrating numerous engineering and construction disciplines.
Assist Developers, Engineers, and Contractors through the City’s permitting process.
Coordinate with other City Departments ensuring the systems can be efficiently maintained and operated.
Perform and/or lead a variety of routine and complex construction management and inspection work for the CIP projects and programs.

Telework Program: The City of Renton supports workers performing in a hybrid capacity (partial telework/in-office) where job responsibilities can be performed remotely. This position may be eligible for a telework arrangement, working certain days/times remotely, based on the operational needs of the City and specific Department. Regardless of job title or telework arrangement, City of Renton employees must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance to their worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Civil Engineer 1 In addition to the standard requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Or minimum 4 years of relevant education and experience.
Civil Engineer 2 In addition to the standard requirements: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Minimum 2 years of civil engineering experience. Or minimum 6 years of relevant education and experience.
Civil Engineer 3 In addition to the standard requirements: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Minimum 4 years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience. Or minimum 8 years combined relevant education and experience.
