Kansas State University Olathe (http://olathe.k-state.edu) invites applications and nominations for a new Teaching Assistant Professor in Public Health (non-tenure track). This position will be a 12-month appointment with approximately 50% teaching and 50% administrative responsibilities including service, with future potential for flexible distribution among responsibilities. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research at the Olathe Campus. The position is housed within the School of Applied and Interdisciplinary Studies at Olathe. The faculty at K-State Olathe is particularly interested in individuals with demonstrated experience in collaborating broadly and working as a team member across disciplines. Highest consideration will be given to candidates who possess a strong background in teaching, research, and professional service as it relates to public health and/or the public health industry, especially those with expertise in the areas of infectious diseases, One Health, epidemiology, and/or public health practice that would support programming (https://olathe.k-state.edu/academics/programs-industry/animal-health.html). It would also be preferred that this expertise synergizes with current Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) and Master of Public Health (MPH) program faculty interests in infectious disease, epidemiology, public health, and/or food safety (https://www.vet.k-state.edu). The successful candidate may be considered for appointment at the rank of ancillary professor within other academic departments at Kansas State University, and where appropriate, membership in specialized university centers, such as the Center for Outcomes Research and Epidemiology (CORE) in the CVM (https://www.vet.k-state.edu/research/centers-institutes/core/) and the Master of Public Health program as a faculty member (https://www.k-state.edu/mphealth/).
The Successful Candidate Will:
Provide graduate-level instruction (approximately 50% teaching commitment) that aligns with academic priorities at the Olathe and Manhattan campuses of Kansas State University. The primary focus will be existing and/or future courses related to Public Health with emphasis on specialized topics associated with the MPH degrees offered at Olathe. Therefore, experience in public health practice would be ideal. A background in epidemiology or infectious diseases for applications in practice would also be appropriate for this position.
Provide program administration (approximately 50% of the position), including:
Collaborating with the Master of Public Health Program Director at the Manhattan Campus to operate and evaluate the program, developing curriculum in cooperation with the faculty, identifying internship opportunities, creating program reports for internal partners and external stakeholders, coordinating course scheduling, and ensuring Council on Education for Public Health accreditation compliance.
Supporting current programming that is relevant to workforce development through innovative approaches to the changing demands of higher education and growing industry/government/academic partnerships that bridge education with research and translational opportunities.
Assist with the design and execution of new courses responsive to the demographics of the potential student population that may be at the local, national, or international level, using face-to-face, online, or hybrid course delivery methods, that lead or support graduate degrees and/or certificates. There will be a particular emphasis on the student population who are working professionals in the public health industry and other health-related industries, including contract research organizations.
Supervise and advise graduate students and/or serve as Major Professor or committee member on graduate student supervisory committees.
Recruit prospective graduate students to the K-State Olathe graduate programs in Public Health; recruitment activities may include the delivery of a topic-based seminar or webinar each semester and attendance at recruitment events that may occur after 5 p.m. on weekdays or on occasional weekends.
Provide input on instructional needs and staffing (e.g., joint hires across university departments, industry experts and adjuncts); evaluate performance and benchmark curricular content in alignment with K-State academic policies and standards; report regularly on graduate student status, including progress toward degree completion.
Act as a liaison for K-State Olathe academic programs and faculty, serve on campus and university committees related to academic and student issues, and represent the campus within the university and in private/public sectors as appropriate.
Be a team member in the community of support and supervising services related to student admissions, enrollment, retention, success, and career advising.
Be expected to travel between the campuses in Olathe and Manhattan, Kansas, as well as within the greater Kansas City area as part of the responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess an MPH or MSPH and PhD or DrPH (or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to public health, and evidence of research or teaching experiences in an academic and/or industry setting. Two public health degrees are not required. DVM and DNP will be considered.
