POSITION STATEMENT Assistant Director of Enrollment

THE POSITION
The Assistant Director of Enrollment is an integral member of the Enrollment Management Team. They collaborate with members of the team and members of the community, including Colleagues, families, students, and outside community members, to ensure a robust and equitable enrollment experience. An essential focus of the Assistant Director of Enrollment is the management of admissions, matriculation, and transition of students and their families into the BFS community. As a result, knowledge and care of the intellectual and socio-economic development of adolescents, comfort with admissions technology, communication, and a commitment to promoting a diverse community is expected. is key to the success of the Assistant Director of Enrollment and to the enrollment process of the School. All Colleagues are expected to be active community members, sharing duties and general support and care of the school community.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
This position reports to the Director of Enrollment Management.
Articulate why, how, and what the BFS educational environment offers students
Identify and understand the features that are distinct in Preschool, Lower School, Middle School and Upper School programs to ensure continuity in matriculation
Cultivate and sustain mutually beneficial relationships with feeder schools and partner organizations to support the recruitment of mission-aligned families to BFS
Understand and seek out trends in the enrollment industry, specifically as related to middle and high school, that can support best practices at BFS
Contribute to and implement strategies for achieving enrollment and retention goals
Represent the School at open houses, school visits, and fairs
Lead and organize all of the goal-based activities connected with attracting and matriculating candidates that will contribute to the vitality and diversity of the student body, including open houses, tours, interviews, playdates, classroom visits and other events
Connect with prospective families and journey with them throughout the admissions process
Collaborate with division heads, teachers and learning specialists to develop protocols for student assessment and colleague feedback
Utilize screening and placement processes that assess mission and program alignment supported by divisional leadership
Organizing Middle and Upper School admissions advisory committees, actively collaborating with the Heads of the Middle and Upper School and representing prospective students
Communicate regularly with Middle and Upper School colleagues to support their continued engagement with the Enrollment team
Illustrate enrollment goals and realities as needed with colleagues across the school, especially but not limited to Advancement, Communications and other key leadership
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Characteristics Sought:
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred, with special preference for a degree in education or adolescent development.
A background in education, either as an admissions officer or a teacher
Initiative in understanding all-school dynamics and proactively responding in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with adults and children
Ability to work independently and productively as well as to collaborate with a team of enrollment professionals and to contribute to strategic decision-making processes that impact the entire office and school
Ability to adeptly navigate issues of diversity, equity, and belonging with children and families of diverse identities and cultural backgrounds within an educational setting
Strong listening, speaking and writing skills
Effective organizational skills, with careful attention to accuracy and detail
Expertise with technology to manage online databases and spreadsheets
Integrity, professionalism, high ethical standards, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to work some evenings and weekends
A passionate work ethic and a delight in a job well done
A sense of humor and abundant patience
Fluency in Spanish is preferred
Physical Requirements of the Job
Must be able to work in an office environment including prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Must be able to stand, bend over, twist and reach to access file cabinets, bookshelves and navigate office and workstation spaces.
Must be able to ambulate through a classroom setting, including walking up stairs.
Union Status: Union
Salary Range: $71,100 - $84,100
This salary range represents the expected annual salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your education level, experience, and other job-related factors.
