In this role, the Deputy will plan, lead, direct, and evaluate the operations and programs of the City Government, develop and maintain relationships with City Council, employees, and the public, and coordinate the City's operating budget and capital improvements.

The City of Harrisonburg is an independent city located in the picturesque central Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia and serves as the county seat for Rockingham County. Minimum Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree with coursework in public administration or a related field and extensive (6 or more years) managerial experience in local government as a City/County/Town Manager, Deputy or Assistant Manager, or Assistant to City/County/Town Manager. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement.
• A valid driver's license.
• Currently or the ability to become a resident of the City of Harrisonburg within a timeline specified by the City Manager.

• Master's degree with coursework in public administration or a related field.
• International City/County Management Association Credentialed Manager (ICMA-CM) designation.
