The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Planner.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Manager Planning Services & Local Economic Development, and with day-to-day direction of the Senior Planner, the successful candidate will be responsible for customer service support responding to inquiries from the public and other stakeholders on a range of planning issues and queries. Assists with processing planning and development applications, including research and technical assistance on official plan amendments, zoning by-law amendments, subdivision/condominium and development agreement applications, site plan applications, Committee of Adjustment applications, Community Improvement Plan (CIP) grant applications, Official Plan reviews, Secondary Plans and special studies and the tracking of proposals and applications. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the preparation of all mapping required for planning department activities in an AutoCAD/GIS environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must have a university degree in Planning or a related field, combined with a minimum one (1) year experience, preferably in a municipal planning environment. The successful candidate must be eligible for membership with Ontario Provincial Planners Institute (OPPI) and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP). The ideal candidate will have strong research and analytical skills, presentation skills, excellent customer service, and through knowledge of related acts, by-laws and legislation. This position will be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Power Point and image editing software and have strong sound knowledge of computer software applications required to perform planning duties, including AutoCAD/GIS for preparing maps.

Salary
The Town offers a starting hourly rate of $39.59 (2023), in accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 702.2. This position is subject to a probationary period of sixty (60) days of work.
