Reporting to the Manager of Community Planning, the Senior Planner will be responsible for carrying out complex planning assignments with minimal supervision. Responsibilities
The following responsibilities and duties of this position includes but is not limited to:
Undertaking or project managing complex planning studies, policy research, analysis related to land use planning, including secondary plans.
Preparing reports and recommendations on a wide variety of complex municipal planning and related matters.
Analyzing issues and formulating policy with an emphasis on land use planning and growth management.
Designing and facilitating public consultation and respond to inquiries.
Making presentations to Council, public information centres and to resident groups as required.
Co-ordinating and overseeing multi-disciplinary teams including consultants.
Utilizing advanced analytical skills to formulate draft policy positions for the Municipality.
Be a mentor and expert resource to junior planning staff.
Representing the Municipality and the Department in a variety of settings with the Province, other municipalities, agencies, developers, citizen groups, residents and other Departments.
Helping facilitate major economic development projects with Economic Development Division staff.
Providing expert testimony before LPAT.
Other duties as required.
