Large full-service real estate developer in Washington, DC seeks an Assistant Vice President with experience in leasing to both office and retail tenants in Class A office and multi-family residential buildings in the DC metro area. This position on the leasing team will be responsible for keeping properties in the portfolio leased, whether through lease renewals or new tenants, in a strategic manner while safeguarding the landlord’s interests.
Reports to: Vice President, Leasing
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage relationships with existing tenants throughout the office and retail portfolio.
Manage third-party leasing teams to evaluate new prospects, and renewals and expansions of existing tenants.
Coordinate and implement marketing strategies with third-party leasing teams and vendors.
Lead property tours.
Work with architectural firms to coordinate and review test fits with prospective tenants. Ability to read plans is a must.
Coordinate with the development team to ensure any space changes being contemplated can be completed within budget guidelines. Draft and review proposals including an analysis of the economic terms.
Prepare and negotiate commission agreements.
Negotiate the proposals through a signed letter of intent. Review and comment on draft lease documents.
Review and recommend payment of invoices associated with all work.
In coordination with outside or in-house legal counsel, review lease language to ensure the accuracy of the economic terms and ensure landlord’s interests are protected.
In coordination with property’s third-party listing agent, generate leasing assumptions for the calendar year and 2-4 years thereafter to create marketing strategy and leasing inputs into property budgets.
Participate in internal meetings with the asset management team throughout the year to provide insight into projected leasing of each property in the portfolio along with the rationale of underlying leasing assumptions.
Regularly interact with various teams internally, such as accounting, asset management, property management, building engineering, and legal, as well as with outside teams including general contractors and partners.
Operate independently on activities relevant to properties while keeping the Vice President – Leasing, company President, and Chief Operating Officer apprised of issues.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a standard office setting.
Ability to visit various properties to conduct building tours.
Ability to use standard office equipment.
Ability to read printed material and a computer screen.
Ability to communicate in person or over the telephone.

Minimum of five years of leasing experience in Class A office properties.
Understanding of leasing retail spaces in multi-family high rise properties.
Strong mathematic skills.
Strong interpersonal and collegial skills with the ability to interact with executive level internal and external clients.
Strong organizational skills and detailed-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple leasing projects.
