The Position

• The CAVP, Chief Administrative Officer oversees the planning and execution of all administrative operations and strategic initiatives for the Department of Medicine within the UMass Memorial Healthcare system. 
• This position will report to the Chair, Department of Medicine, UMass Chan and UMMH with dotted line to SVP, Chief Operating Officer, UMass Memorial Medical Group. and will oversee five direct reports.
• The Chief Administrative Officer will cultivate strong relationships with each division and department staff to gain a deep understanding of their key priorities, including departmental financials. Additionally, this role will be responsible for enhancing the funds flow process.
• The ideal candidate will be an innovative and strategic leader with a remarkable ability to multitask and adapt to evolving priorities. This leader must excel at building and maintaining relationships, fostering a supportive environment for staff, and guiding divisions toward a successful future.
• The successful candidate will be an experienced financial administrator with a background in financial management of academic Departments. 
• This individual will be a leader who demonstrates the collaborative ability to work well with multiple partners and stakeholders, strong interpersonal and communication skills that complement a passion for excellence and achievement.  

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Business, Hospital Administration or a related area required.
• A minimum of seven years of relevant experience, including at least five years in an administrative role within a large department, is required.
• Prior experience in a large Academic Medical Center is highly preferred.

The Organization

• UMass Memorial Health is the largest health care system in Central and Western Massachusetts and the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
